Old Timers De-Brief

We had a great turnout yesterday despite the heat index climbing to triple digits. The official temperature was 98 degrees and that's hot without a heat index. But it could have been worse. The record for this date was 100 back in 1987.

We had eleven bikes and one car show up which kinda' surprised me. I thought the humidity might spell a low turnout but no, this bunch likes to ride and hang the temperature...The driver of that car was Lori Parker. Her husband, Danny, the lesser half of that couple, had commitments at their church and couldn't make it so Lori came alone in the family sedan. Way to go Lori.

Had a few welcome guests as well. Mark, who has ridden with us a bunch and Dane, one of Dan Randall's friends plus Rick and Donna Hightower. Good to see all these guys again...The MTR roster was Dan Randall, Stan, Terry and Mary Carol, Charlie and Darnel, Buck and Donna, Bob Branch, Paul and Dian, Hildia Max and yours truly. I believe that makes eleven bikes, one car and eighteen souls....As I said, a great turnout. Thanks to all who braved the heat...

The highlight of the ride had to be the twelve year old Atlanta Braves fan that crashed our party at Old Timers and verbally assaulted Chicago Cubs fan, Dan Randall. The kid from left field was a rabid baseball fan. His knowledge of the sport was obvious and poor Dan didn't have a chance. The kid was relentless and verbally crucified Dan and the whole Cubbies lineup. While seventeen motorcyclists enjoyed Dan's discomfort immensely, Dan showed an amazing power of restraint and we were surprised that he didn't attack the little monster right then and there with his coconut pie. But, to his credit he maintained complete control and cut the kid some slack. Good show Dan. We really have missed you.
